Letting You Go (August 17, 2019)

I want to hold on

but you’re not mine to hold on to

not anymore 

maybe not ever

so I try to let you go

piece by piece 

memory by memory

I let go

of our hopeful plans for our

future 

of our once conceivable life

together 

of the you I wanted so desperately to still

love 

but the love is long gone

and so are you

so here I am

letting go

of the you I once knew
