Millions of Shoes (November 20, 2017)

Millions of shoes,
each one a pair;
sitting in the aftermath–
just laying there.

Each one a person–
a mother, father, or friend.
Who stayed there with them,
until the very end.

We use these to remember–
to never ever forget.
Those heart-breaking stories,
of people we never even met.

They didn't deserve this–
Not a single one.
Yet they suffered in anguish,
until they rose into the sun.

Millions of shoes,
each one a pair;
sitting in the aftermath–
just laying in despair.
